800 MG VITAMIN C AND 60 MG MAGNESIUM FROM MAGNESIUM ASCORBATE
- vitamin C and magnesium in one capsule for greater ease of use
- non-acidic form of vitamin C
- with 800 mg vitamin C and 60 mg magnesium per capsule
EAN: 8716717003778
An ideal combination of 800 mg vitamin C and 60 mg magnesium, from the easily absorbable, organic compound magnesium ascorbate. Vitamin C in the buffered form of magnesium ascorbate is suitable for people who do not tolerate ascorbic acid well. Because magnesium ascorbate is less acidic than ascorbic acid, it causes virtually no gastrointestinal complaints. If a higher intake of vitamin C is desired, it is best to choose a non-acidic form such as magnesium ascorbate. Vitals Vitamin C + Magnesium also has the advantage that it contains 60 mg magnesium per capsule, which can be useful if magnesium supplementation is also required. Vitamin C + Magnesium is in a vegetarian capsule. Vitamin C as magnesium ascorbate is also available in powder form.
How Vitamin C Works
Vitamin C is perhaps the most mentioned vitamin, mainly known for its positive influence on resistance. And that is true, vitamin C helps the immune system, especially during times of heavy physical strain or in cold environments. But this vitamin is involved in many processes.
Vitamin C functions in the body as a water-soluble antioxidant and plays an important role as a free radical scavenger. It is part of a complex system of endogenous antioxidants, dietary antioxidants and antioxidant enzymes with mutual dependencies and interactions. In this capacity, it is involved in the protection of DNA, proteins and fats against oxidative damage and thus contributes to the maintenance of healthy cells and tissues. In addition, vitamin C is required as a coenzyme for three different enzymes that are involved in the production of collagen (the most common building block in the human body). Normal collagen formation is important for bones, cartilage, gums, skin, tendons and blood vessels, among other things.
Vitamin C is needed as a cofactor for dopamine beta-monooxygenase (DBM), the enzyme that converts dopamine into noradrenaline and adrenaline. Both function in the body as neurotransmitters and hormones, and thus vitamin C has a positive effect on the functioning of the nervous system and contributes to normal psychological functioning. Vitamin C is essential for two enzymes that are involved in the production of carnitine, which is needed for the transport of long-chain fatty acids to the mitochondria for energy production.
In this way, vitamin C supports energy levels. It can also help with fatigue. There are also many people who do not get enough iron through their diet, especially women of childbearing age, pregnant women and (young) children. Vitamin C ensures that iron from food is better absorbed. This concerns non-heme iron, which is found in plant and animal foods. Vitamin C does not affect the absorption of heme iron, which is only found in animal products. Approximately 90% of the iron in food is non-heme iron. Only 10% consists of heme iron. As an electron donor, vitamin C can convert oxidized vitamin E back into the active, reduced form, which maintains the effect of vitamin E.
Humans cannot synthesize vitamin C themselves and are completely dependent on diet for their vitamin C supply.
How magnesium works in the body
Magnesium is good for the muscles and important for maintaining strong bones and teeth. Furthermore, it is involved in more than 300 enzymatic processes. For example, magnesium is an important co-factor for enzymes involved in protein synthesis (the process in which proteins are created based on DNA). And it also ensures a good electrolyte balance because it is a co-factor for many enzymes that are involved in maintaining an electrical potential across the cell membrane. (Cells – especially nerve and muscle cells – use the electrical charge of electrolytes to conduct electrical impulses to and from other cells, such as nerve impulses or muscle contractions.) In this way, magnesium is involved in nerve conduction and muscle contraction, and is therefore important for muscle function, including the heart muscle.
In addition, an insufficient magnesium intake can lead to fatigue. Magnesium can help in this case to get fit again. It helps to release energy from fats, carbohydrates and proteins and thus supports the energy level. It is also important for brain and nerve functions that determine aspects such as concentration, memory and mood. And it contributes to normal cell division and the production of cells and tissues.

Magnesium ascorbate, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (vegetable capsule), anti-caking agent (rice fibre).
Usage:
Take 1-2 capsules daily with a meal and water. Stick to the recommended dosage.
Suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
NB:
Kidney patients should not take more than 200 mg of vitamin C per day due to, among other things, the risk of hyperoxalemia (too high a concentration of oxalic acid in the blood).
