Study by TNO
In a recent – ​​independent, non-profit – systematic review by TNO (2018), Lactobacillus rhamnosus, GG came out on top in the test, compared to other probiotic strains and mixtures. Only probiotic products that are available on the Dutch market and for which randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled studies have been conducted with the (combination of) bacterial strain(s) used were included. The aim of the study was to provide doctors and healthcare professionals with a guide with a solid scientific basis, with which they can confidently provide advice on the use of probiotic products. Three qualitative, independent human studies with Lactobacillus rhamnosus, GG have resulted in the highest score of three stars. And it is also the only strain with three stars. There were also six strains or mixtures with one star. It is striking that this one strain scored better compared to formulations with more strains. More is therefore not always better. Furthermore, this review shows once again that it is essential that probiotics are assessed based on strain-specific research. And if there are multiple strains in a product, that studies have been done with that specific combination of strains. Quality and viability
The Danish company Chr. Hansen, the probiotic specialist, is the owner and producer of this bacterial strain. Their advanced production process ensures that the capsules have a long shelf life outside the refrigerator in the closed packaging. This is very convenient in practice and in the store, of course. In addition, Vitals consciously chooses dark violet glass (almost black) for its probiotic products, which optimally protects the contents against the effects of air, light and moisture. In addition, the packaging contains a moisture-absorbing bag and the packaging is hermetically sealed with an airtight aluminum seal. Finally, the products are produced and stored under controlled conditions. This guarantees the viability of these bacterial strains.

About the name Microbiol
The name Microbiol is derived from 'microbiome'. This is the whole of all micro-organisms that live on and in our body, such as the intestinal flora. These are the bacteria that form part of our gastrointestinal tract from birth. These include lactobacilli. Bacillus rhamnosus GG is also known as LGG.
