Vitakruid Magnesium 150 bisglycinate
Vitakruid Magnesium 150 bisglycinate
Magnesium bound to glycine
Magnesium bisglycinate is a compound of magnesium and two (bis) molecules of the amino acid glycine. The sweet-tasting substance is non-essential, which means that our body produces the amino acid itself in the liver. Nevertheless, stand-alone glycine supplements are frequently used. An operation, diet, rapid growth or heavy sports are factors that can make glycine supplementation a valuable addition to the diet.
By the way, you get a significant amount of glycine when you use Magnesium Bisglycinate 150. A magnesium bisglycinate compound that results in 150 mg of magnesium contains no less than 600 mg of glycine!
Organic and chelated form
Magnesium malate, taurate, bisglycinate and citrate are organically bound forms of magnesium. Inorganic forms of magnesium such as magnesium chloride, magnesium oxide and magnesium sulphate are less bioavailable and are therefore less well absorbed. For example, magnesium sulphate has a bioavailability of only 4%. This means that a dosage of 200 mg of magnesium sulphate is only effective for a mere 8 mg.
Your daily diet generally contains inorganically bound magnesium. These are the forms that occur in the soil and are absorbed by the plants that you eat daily. Examples of these are magnesium oxide and magnesium carbonate. Your body therefore only absorbs a small part of the magnesium that you ingest from regular food.
The best forms we know are magnesium chelates such as magnesium taurate, magnesium malate and magnesium bisglycinate. The structure of an amino acid chelate is so strong that our gastric juice cannot split the form. This is due to the amino acids in the chelate form, which act as a protective layer for the magnesium. The magnesium bisglycinate therefore reaches our intestines as a complete element, where our body then absorbs the valuable mineral. Furthermore, the amino acid chelated character ensures fewer stomach and intestinal complaints, in comparison to non-chelated magnesium forms.
High absorbability of elemental magnesium
A label should always state the elemental quantity of a mineral. The molecular compound of magnesium bisglycinate contains 20% elemental magnesium. That may not seem like much. But an elemental quantity of 150 mg, from 750 mg of magnesium bisglycinate, is absorbed much better by our body than the same quantity of elemental magnesium bound to, for example, citrate, oxide or sulphate. And for magnesium, the absorption of the mineral is a much more important criterion than quantity.
L-taurine provides synergistic effect
In addition, we have added l-taurine to Magnesium Bisglycinate. This amino acid-like substance is found in significant quantities in meat, fish and shellfish. For this formula, synergy was the driving force to add l-taurine. After all, the intercellular substance ensures better absorption of magnesium bisglycinate, which is also active at the intercellular level.
