It then becomes necessary to supplement vitamin D in another way. We can obtain vitamin D from our diet, from fatty fish such as salmon and mackerel, liver and egg yolk. A recent meta-analysis of scientific studies has shown that it is useful to combine vitamin D supplementation with vitamin K, because these two vitamins work together. Vitamin K is also found in food. Green leafy vegetables such as kale, spinach and parsley are rich sources of vitamin K1. However, this form is relatively poorly absorbed in the body. Vitamin K2, especially menaquinone-7, is considered the most efficient source of vitamin K. This form is produced by certain bacteria and is found to a limited extent in meat, dairy and eggs. Partly for this reason, our body often fails to extract sufficient vitamin K from our food. A supplement can then provide a solution.

To ensure good absorption of the fat-soluble vitamins D and K in the body, we dissolve them in a fat matrix of extra virgin olive oil. Bonusan Vitamin D3 & K2 therefore contains no unnecessary additives and no added omega-6. In this way we prevent it from having an adverse effect on the omega-3 - omega 6 ratio. We colored the capsule wall dark using natural caramel, for the stability of the naturally unstable vitamin K2.
